Ryan Hewett

Ryan Hewett is a painter, mostly known for his contemporary grotesque and abstract style. He was born in South Africa in 1979. Ryan uses knives, brushwork and paint rollers to create intriguing portraits of both, former and current characters who have influenced society as well as strangers without a name. His work is semi-abstract and contrary to the portrait tradition Hewett has no desire to capture the external likeness of his subjects but rather use them as means to inner exploration. His work was featured in several exhibitions at key galleries and museums, including the “Unit London” and the “Barnard Gallery”. He is locally represented by the Barnard Gallery in Cape Town, South Africa. Please follow his officials.
