Ivo Stoyanov is a contemporary painter who was born in 1963 in Bulgaria. Ivo spent his youth in Bulgaria where he pursued his studies on mural painting at the Nicolai Pavlovich Academy of Fine Arts. In 1990, he immigrated to Canada and continued his work as a mural painter. Ivo expresses that as an artist, every painting is an entrance to himself. He believes that painting offers a limitless interpretation. His method of applying paint and then adding and subtracting layers to discover what lays beneath reveals the painter as an archaeologist. He has exhibited in museums and commercial galleries across Europe and North America and is the recipient of numerous prestigious grants and mural commissions. One of his most notable paintings is Spaces with a Single Voice, created in 2001.
